St. Philopateer Coptic Church
Project Type: Drywall
General Contractor: Idea Construction
BakerTriangle Project Manager, Kyle Caviness stated, “the framing of the large dome ceilings was a challenge to our crew but was improved as Armstrong provided us with shop drawings for the domes as we used their Drywall Ceiling Framing Systems”. The structural framing of the new exterior dome structures was also a challenge but with the help of Superior Steel Components who prefabricated the components, BakerTriangle was able to build the domes on the ground and then set into place with the use of a crane. The framing and sheet rocking of the numerous barrel ceilings inside the sanctuary and lobby were made difficult by changing floor elevations. The dome and barrel ceilings were a major undertaking. Access to the maindome ceiling in the center of the building was the first obstacle. BT contracted the building of this massive scaffold system by Contactors Access. In the midst of the barrel ceilings and BT substrate, is a fabric that was designed and manufactured in the United States. The wooden structure – iconostasis – was brought in from Egypt.
