UT Dell Computer Science Hall
Project Type: Drywall
General Contractor: Austin Commercial
The complex will provide almost 20,000 assignable square feet of flexible and highly programmable research laboratory space, a 200-seat lecture hall, seven classrooms, ten electronic seminar rooms and instructional laboratories, two dedicated study areas for undergraduates and graduate students, over 24 discussion areas, eight conference rooms, and student organization offices.
BakerTriangle found a very challenging site when they arrived at the UT Dell complex. Surrounded by existing buildings, it was necessary to use swing stages to install the exterior sheathing. The exterior walls were designed for L/1000, which meant very heavy gauge studs had to be installed. BT had to scaffold the entire atrium for the 9 Wood Panel installation, while working in conjunction with other trades. 120’ boom lifts were used to install exterior soffit panels.
