Integrated Project Delivery

IPD is a truly fundamental leap forward in the construction process, and BakerTriangle is leading the way. With the IPD process, all the subcontractors on a project collaborate together with the contractor and the client – up front and throughout the life of the project. Leveraging industry-leading software to make it happen, BakerTriangle has demonstrated the time and cost savings are amazing.

BakerTriangle has invested in the people, resources, technology and software to fully participate as an IPD subcontractor. In fact, we have an international exchange program with a German company, to leverage the successes Europeans have been enjoying with IPD.

Building Information Modeling

Working in the IPD process, BakerTriangle feeds its plans into a BIM software tool like NavisWorks, along with all the other subcontractors on the project. There, in virtual 3-D, plans are overlaid and merged into a comprehensive 3-D model. Conflicts are easily caught before anyone ever steps foot on the site. Issues are resolved among all parties collaboratively, before hourly workers on site discover then-costly problems. Revisions made to plans before work starts, a much faster and more cost-efficient way to work out snags rather than waiting until they occur onsite and then having to rip out and reinstall major components.

The bottom line: Projects get completed much more accurately according to plans, construction moves much more efficiently, and subcontractors have much less surprises on site. It really is a win-win for everyone involved.

Lean Construction Principles

Lean Construction Principles represent another big leap forward in construction. Again by leveraging technology, BakerTriangle can maximize the efficiency of materials and installation … and minimize waste.

In pre-construction meetings, BakerTriangle teams plan out how to be more efficient with all the parties involved in the project. From precutting materials to prefabricating components to timing for most efficient installation, the sharing of resources and information can eliminate huge amounts of waste that construction projects previously generated.

"We have pre-job meetings with our team to look at that, not only from the perspective of how we can be more efficient but how can we be more efficient with construction teams and help electrical and mechanical to become more efficient," said BakerTriangle CEO Steve Baker. Software tools

BakerTriangle uses technology to improve efficiency and accuracy in the business. Estimating software such as QuickBid provides accurate up-front estimates. Digital automated timekeeping software on projects also save time and money. Foremen on job sites are able to use a laptop computer to biometrically clock employees in and out, saving time, money and redundant work for employees in the office.
